Dakore Egbuson-Akande is worth her weight in gold in the Nigerian and indeed African entertainment industry.

Dakore is an accomplished, well loved and highly regarded Multiple Award-winning Film/Stage Actor, TV personality, Vocalist/Dancer and Humanitarian.

Dakore studied Mass Communication(Minor in PR&Advertising)(Print Media Major)at the prestigious University of Lagos.

She has been a Brand Ambassador for several major brands such as Pampers (P&G) Nigeria, Cow&Gate (Danone Nutricia), Amstel Malta (Nigerian Breweries) and most recently H2O( Pepsi), MTN (Nigeria’s biggest telecommunications company)Nestle Milo(beverage) recently in 2019, Amstel Malta(Nigerian Breweries)for the 2nd time and most recently in 2020 as “Aunty2sure” for 2sure hand and surface sanitizers( SABC Plc).

She is the Pioneer Ambassador for ActionAid Nigeria an international n.g.o with the aim of sensitizing Nigerians to align with the poor and disadvantaged in society.

In her humanitarian work she was the 1st Nigerian actor to be named Ambassador of Amnesty International and OxfamAmerica in the campaign for the control of arms and ammunition.

She has also partnered with the UN in the campaign for girl-child education and violence against women for their “Orange the world” campaign.

Last November Dakore partnered with the European Union (EU) along with fellow celebrities and influencers in the 16 days of activism against gender based violence.

In January 2020 Dakore became a juror for the Ethical Fashion Institute/UN/EU partnerships African Designer’s Accelerator project with the aim to spotlight 10 African designers and bring them to a global market. The 10 selected designers are currently exhibiting at 2021’s Pitti imagine.

Dakore strongly believes in the arts and media’s ability to provoke, inspire and be a vehicle for change in the world while being no less entertaining.

She hails from Bayelsa state though born and bred in Lagos, Nigeria.

Dakore is married to Lou and they are blessed with two beautiful little girls.

Since her 1999 lead debut in Nollywood classic “Silent Tears”, ”Playboy”, “Emotional Crack”, Dakore has starred in over 100 films. Her recent blockbuster hit movies are “Fifty” (Netflix) Spinoff” Fifty the series” (Ebonylife TV) ”Isoken” (Amazon prime)(Netflix) “New Money” (2018) (Netflix) she just wrapped as Lead on Nigeria’s 1st legal drama series “Castle & Castle” (Netflix) and “Chief Daddy” (Highest grossing movie of 2018 at the Nigerian box office ) ”Yemi’s dilemma” (Los Angeles 2017)(short film)official selection Pan African film festival and recently announced at Festival international Pan-African at Cannes France.

Her most recent films are “Coming from insanity” (2019) and “The SetUp” in cinemas August 9th 2019. Both movies are currently streaming on Netflix to rave reviews.

In 2018 Dakore was recognized as one of the Most Influential people of African descent (MIPAD) recognized by the UN.

Dakore is also a jury member for “Nollywood in Hollywood” which is a platform in conjunction with the University of Southern California (USC) to bring carefully curated Nigerian content to a wider audience. The films are screened at the Egyptian Theatre and USC film school.

She recently won the Best Actress in a leading role prize for her work in ISOKEN at the African Academy Movie Awards (AMAA)2018 And Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) 2018.

The movie also screened at the 2019 Pan-African Film Festival in Los Angeles.

More recently Nigerias 1st legal drama series “Castle&Castle” which she stars in got picked up by Netflix for its 2nd season (currently in production) and she is producing and co-directing her 1st feature film “Blaqout” about the journey of a young, Nigerian girl finding her identity while navigating the male-dominated Afrobeats music scene.

She also became a Juror for the Paris International Film Festival 2021 and was honored with an “International Honorary Award (Prix d’honneur) for her contributions to Film this past February 2021 and in a different capacity she is now a Non-Executive Director and board member of UK-Dion Investment Limited an investment company in Lagos
